Hmm… This has held some of my interest, consider a real neural network, a network of signal carriers using electrical impulses for transmission of information along individual nerves(neurons) and chemical transmitters from nerve to nerve (synapses). Nerves act as “majority gates” each neuron may receive many signals on its inputs(axons) the majority input determines the neurons signal on its output(dendrite). As a signal travels from neuron to neuron the chemicals called neurotransmitters are somewhat depleted leaving somewhat of a ghost image of the message(s) in the neural network, the support system for the neural network will enhance the synapse if depletion continues(short term memory), if this is not sufficient, non-committed neurons are recruited to help handle the messages and if necessary new neural paths are created(long term memory). It has been difficult for man to duplicate this system digitally, however I think it might just be possible that he has built such a network inadvertently! The internet behaves in a fashion very similar to a neural network, as do many other information systems. I believe your best bet to learn more about AI is to search for these types of systems, learn more about them, learn more about biological neural systems, compare them and see where it leads you.

Please keep in touch and let me know what you discover, I do have an interest.

Natural neural network?

Question by CL K: Natural neural network?
what is definition of natural neural network?it have what difference with the ANN?

Best answer:

Answer by John D
Use your brain.

Seriously, your brain is a natural neural network. As is a worm’s brain, a cat’s brain, and a flea’s brain. An artificial neural network is one that someone has created, either in hardware as an electronic network or in software.

Suggest Project to do in Artificial Intellegence ( Neural Network, expert system etc)?

Question by lostinlife: Suggest Project to do in Artificial Intellegence ( Neural Network, expert system etc)?
I have to do a project for my Artificial Intellegence class…..i am totally new to this field….

the project should be do able not too complex or hi-fi.

any suggestion regarding this will be great help.

i am thinking of doing project either in neural network or expert system….

please suggest.

In my early years… (20 years ago?)…
I did a simple project on neural networks:
- Make hard wood numbers 0-9, same height.
- Make a square sensor array, say, 10×10
- Connect each sensor to an input of a neural network
- Drop a number on the sensor: the shadow it makes gives 100 input values to the NN.
- TEACH the neural network to recognise the “right” number.
- The more you “teach” it, the better it becomes (even when you drop the number upside down!)
Worked well! and, believe me, it is not “that” simple…
(Now, of course, we use image analysis…)

what does “expertext” , “neural network” terms mean?

Question by : what does “expertext” , “neural network” terms mean?
i want to know a simple definition and an example of
1. expertext
2. neural network
one more term

3. CIM system

Best answer:

Answer by Ronald
Expertext is a hypertext expert system. It has predicates at the nodes and implications on the links. A neural net is an artificial intelligence system that uses a structure mimicing the living neurons system.

CIM is Computer Integrated Manufacturing where computer tools are used to manage the entire production from design to engineering to production to marketing etc…

how can i do a stock market prediction using a neural network?

Question by Dinuka U: how can i do a stock market prediction using a neural network?

Answer by Ryan
The easy way is to use the wet one in your head. You use a university to train it instead of a more traditional backprop, though.

Barring that, of course, there are a couple significant challenges here. First, you need to recognize and understand the characteristics of the ANN approach. You need to know how big of a network you’re talking about… three layers is all fine and good, but you’re going to need to know how many nodes to work with. The most significant problem, though, is the inputs… to predict prices with any kind of accuracy, you’d need to be able to track, input and train on at least some variables that affect price. The purely numerical ones (the day of the week, yesterday’s price, the index prices, etc) are fairly easy, but you’ll need to account for everything else, too… people’s minds can change for totally unrelated occurrences, they may blindly follow trends (meaning you’ll need to loop some of your output back) or go against them. They may buy or sell in large quantities because of what analysts say on TV, whether or not it makes sense. You may be able to model a lot of that with statistical models, but the devil is in syncing the timing to reality.

Bottom line, it’s an interesting problem. Solve it well, and you’ll never need to work again ;)

Q&A: What is perceptron coefficient in neural network?

Question by pinku_27babypink: What is perceptron coefficient in neural network?

The aim of my project is to transfer compressed text data over internet and recover the data losslessly at the receiving end using ANN predictors.
Text: Neural networkASCII value of Text: 78,101,117,114,97,108,32,110,101,116,119,111,114,107First number:78
Residues: 23(101-78), 16(117-101),-3,-17, 76,-76, 78,-9, 15, 3,-8, 3,-7
Now i have to train the neural network to predict residue value.so for example if we take first 12 residue values the ANN has to predict the next, that is, 13th residue value.
Once residues are recollected along with the first original number, predictor coefficients will be used to generate the original data series. Using the predictor coefficients an ANN identical to the ANN at the source is created.I want to know how should the input be given to the neural network and how it will predict the next value in the residue series? How can we create an identical ANN at the receiver’s end using perceptron coefficient, that can generate the same series of residue?

Answer by kae_verens
the “coefficient” in a neural network refers to a value which is used to determine how important a certain input is to a node.

In other words, the coefficients help determine whether a certain input value is considered important to the node or not.

If the coefficient is strong (very far for 0, positively or negatively), then the input is considered to be very important to that node.

There is one coefficient for every input.
